2008 Santa Rita 120 Carmenere

The back label reads:

"According to legend, 120 Patriots, exhausted after a long, hard battle during the fight for Chile's independence, reached the lands belonging to Santa Rita. On that fateful night in 1814, these forces of liberty found refuge in the estate cellars. Today, within these same cellars, our award winning 120 wines are crafted to honor their heroic character."

Wow - great stuff - now I wonder if those Patriots found some wine with their refuge! Maybe they "took refuge in the wine"

Not a bad wine for $7 at BevMo. Reminds me a bit of Zinfandel and now I want to explore a bit more of this Chilean grape juice.

Ebay Rock 45's (8/13/10)

Ebay Rock 45's

Each Friday, I post a select group of 5 rock 45's that sold on Ebay recently.

Here's the list for Friday, the 13th of August, 2010

Eddie Cochran Mean When I'm Mad $500.00

Rare Liberty 45

David Bowie Rebel Rebel $499.99

Unique sleeve from Mexico

Victims Television Addict $395.00

From the Auction:

The Vicitm "television addict"/ "flipped out over you" 45. Totally classic and very rare. This white sleeve has only "The Victims" stamped on the front. The sleeve has some minor creasing, but there are no tears and the sleeve is remarkably clean (being an all- white sleeve). The picture makes it look worse than it actually is... The record is exceptionally nice as well. Includes all three (newly) xeroxed inserts. A keeper! Graded a conservative VG++/EX.

Boys Next Door These Boots Are Made For Walking $370.55

From the Auction:

the boys next door:these boots are made for walking/boy hero. very rare 1978 australian punk kbd 7" released on suicide label(limited to 500 copies only) with original black&white checkered suicide company sleeve. this 7" was never issued with picture sleeve and is nick cave's(birthday party) first ever recording. both sides are great and in my opinion boy hero is the better track

The Kinks You Still Want Me $348.77

Rare DJ copy of the The Kinks 2nd 7"!

2008 Clayhouse Wines Adobe Red

Just opened a bottle of the 2008 Clayhouse Wines Adobe Red, a blend of 40% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah, 13% Petite Sirah, 9% Malbec, 6 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Tempranillo and 5% Merlot.

Hmmm - let's see - that adds up to 101 % enjoyment of this blend "created for that rebellious, hedonistic red wine lover inside of you, rustic like the adobe but refined with sensous dark fruit flavors" Really now - who writes this stuff!!!!

Not a bad bottle of red for the price (about $10). I'm a sucker for Zinfandel and that flavor profile dominates with the fruity notes that I love. The website doesn't list any residual sugar in the wine analysis, but I can taste it, leading to a nice balance that makes it very drinkable and smoooooooth.

Ebay Rock 45's (8/7/10)

Ebay Rock 45's

Here's the list for Friday, the 8th of August, 2010

From the auction:

1984 Taang! Records #1

Well, debatably one of the top shelf collectibles, 100 copies made of the Black Ink on Clear Acetate Sleeve...

Black vinyl, 2000 made...Green vinyl, different cover art, different labels, 1000 made...Clear vinyl, clear printed plastic sleeve, 100 made, same sleeve picture as the green vinyl one...Test pressings have test labels and xerox sleeve (of the black vinyl version). + insert, a small paper with the band name.

This debut 7” remains again debatably one of their best releases, along with the tracks on Boston not LA. Ultrafast Boston hardcore, excellent drumming, good production, wild and powerful. A hardcore classic, especially for the ultra short playing time

Record & Sleeve are literally in NM-/NM- Condition

2008 Red Rock Winery Reserve Malbec

Opened a bottle of 2008 Red Rock Winery Reserve Malbec tonight. Some nice cherries and currants in each mouth full - perfect for taming the fire of the homemade peanut sauce that I've whipped up to go with tonights grilled Pork tenderloin. I've also skewered a few thick cantelope slices and will be searing them on the grill. Now if you have never had warm grilled cantelope drizzled with spicy peanut sauce before ya got to try it! The sweetness of the cantelope is intensified by the grill and the salty spicy peanut sauce is the perfect compliment to it.
