2009 The Show Malbec redux

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon out here in Red Red Wine On A Sundayland. Got another favorite open today - a 2009 The Show Malbec. A stellar Argentinian Malbec from the Mendoza region. Yep - this bottle is just as good as the one I had back in January. Tonight, I got a couple of chickens on the Rotisserie. Throwing a few fresh rosemary twigs in the grill to give it a good smoked flavor. Should work well with the Malbec.

Hit a couple of record shows this weekend - the KXPR Record sale on Friday night and a local Record Swap this morning - got about 70 45s to sort through now - wish me luck.

Here's some propoganda on the wine:

Like a Hatch print for an Elvis gig, The Show grabs your attention. Big and bold, it is dominated by full flavors of dried black cherries, jammy preserves and complex toasty, vanilla, and spicy oak. Learn more at www.threethieves.com.

Production Notes:

The Show combines grapes from the Central Coast, Sonoma County, Lake County, Lodi and Monterey AVA’s. Anchored by full-bodied Cabernet, it also features Petite Sirah which gives it a deep ruby color and a hint of violets on the nose. The Show is aged in French and American oak.

Other Notes:

86% Cabernet Sauvignon 12% Petite Sirah 2% Zinfandel

Each Friday, I post a select group of 5 rock 45's that sold on Ebay recently along with the corresponding video - so you can judge for yourself if the buyer got a good deal.

Crime Murder By Guitar $399.95

From the Auction: AMAZING ORiGiNaL U.S. 1977 pressing of Crime's second 7", "Murder By Guitar"!!! AMAZINGLY RARE with ORiGiNaL sleeve - very few sleeves were printed for this release (supposedly as few as 250!!!) and MANY of them show up trashed even with this single having been sought after FOREVER (someone at a certain record store in NYC tried selling me one of these for $75 in 1985 with a huge chunk torn out of the sleeve)!!!

New York Dolls Trash $159.99

From the Auction: NEW YORK DOLLS " TRASH / PERSONALITY CRISIS" SPANISH IMPORT ON MERCURY 60 52 372 ICONIC PICTURE SLEEVE FROM THE GEM SPA SESSION, ST MARKS AND 2ND AVENUE, BACK SLEEVE HAS A TAX STAMP FROM JAPAN

The Cramps Ohio Demos 1979 Box Set $149.99

From the Auction: The best Cramps recordings hands down. Long out of press.

Please note: I have seen some of these where people have stuck the wolf graphic on the cover. I have two copies of this set and both of mine include the graphic as pictured. There does not seem to be a sticky backing or any type of adhesive. I really have no clue as to how the image would be placed on the cover of the box but I never felt the need to even try. This is a Mint set same as the day it was purchased new.

Queen Bicycle Race $37.20

From the Auction : queen bicycle race/fat bottomed girls extremely rare UK , very limited edition picture sleeve, promotional only, 2 track 7"

you could never buy this promotional only record.it was manufactured specifically for promotional only purposes and is clearly and uniquely marked on the label as such

the picture sleeve is in overall excellent condition.there is an extremely light sticker stain in the top right hand corner of the sleeve and some general light wear.if you have any questions please ask.

Something for your Bike

Yes - Someone had created the perfect bike accessory - the Wine Bicycle Tote

From the original post :
One caveat: probably not great for Champagne. Unless you are seeking to turn the cork into a projectile.

When do the companion baguette holders come out for handlebars that turn your bike into a sort of Longhorn?

2010 Bodega Norton Malbec

Well, it's Father's Day - so the girls are "manning" the grill today - they've got a Tri-Tip smoking away and I've opened up a Malbec to go with it. Hmm - this one is not the best - got the characteristic heartiness of Malbec but it is a little thin. Don't worry - it won't go to waste! (but I might open up a Zin instead later tonight.......)

Here's some propoganda from the winery - Norton Malbec

Happy Father's day to all you Dad's out there - have a great one.

From the Action: Gina Records #RT-1118-MONSTER late 1965 Houston TEXAS Garage-Punk. In essence, this is NEIL FORD AND THE FANATICS before Neil decided to take the reign (their first 45). Most of you know the KILLER A-side from assorted TEXAS comps; TEXAS FLASHBACKS et al…if not, really Killer-KINKS-Krunch garage-punk-sort of ‘You Really Got Me’ crossed with ‘All Day And All Of The Night’ and the STRANGELOVES ‘Night Time’-tons of reverb on the guitar-a Vox Continental in the mix, great Kinks-ish vocals with a KILLER KRUNCH lead guitar break…B-side is more on the lines of Buddy Holly, Del Shannon (‘Runaway’ type vocals occasionally) and the Bobby Fuller 4…has a cool somewhat trashy lead break as well…

Ventures Wild Thing $272.89

From the Auction: Great, Rare Surf Rock 'n' Roll from Dolton in a Picture Sleeve! The Ventures do the song Wild Thing. It came out in 1966 and is a rare Ventures song with vocals. The other side is the instrumental song, Penetration. It is a U.S. release on Dolton Records 325.

2008 Domaine de Valmoissine Pinot Noir

Back to France tonight - opened up a bottle of 2008 Domaine de Valmoissine Pinot Noir to go with some homemade Ratatoulille I've got sauteeing on the side burner of the grill. Vegging out tonight with sides of Grilled artichoke halves and the first finger length zuchini from the garden (only 3 so far....). Grilled whole along with some of those baby bell peppers that I love, they are both sweet and savory thanks to the grill marks.

Hope everybody has a great evening and a wonderful week.

Cheers!

The Mad Eyeball $455.00

From the Auction: NYC 1978 punk The MAD Eyeball b/w I Hate Music

Richie Deran Girl and a Hot Rod $366.00

From the Auction: You are bidding on a neat old Rockabilly tune called Girl and a Hot Rod by Richie Deran and the New Tones. This one is on Pontiac Records, number ZTSC-63228, a 45 rpm from about 1960. It is on the original Pontiac white label.

This is a neat blend of rockabilly and SURF music. I am pretty sure this is the original release--you see the repros from time to time, but this one is the real deal.

The flip side is a song called Little Willie, ZTSC-63229.

As you can see, there are a few scratches and rubs on it here and there--it is not perfect. The original owner wrote her name on one side with a pen. Sorry, no jacket for this one.

The Crossfires Fiberglass Jungle $204.50

From the Auction:

I have decided to sell/auction my 45 from back in high school of the Crossfires. I went to Westchester High with then the Crossfires, who later became the Turtles. I was good friends with four members. Al Nichol, Chuck Portz, Mark Volman and Howard Kaplan.

Al and Chuck signed the 45 with :

Best wishes from Chuck and Al Nichol.

The 45 is glossy, with no signs of wear and the labels are free of any marks or tears.
