Sudwerk Doppel Bock

Picked up a 4 pack of 22 ounce Sudwerk Beers at my local Costco today. Cracked open the first Doppel Bock to get some inspiration for putting the finishing touches on the latest Red Red Wine On A Sunday - a special Christmas edition.

Nice toasted malts in this sucker and a great nose (wait, does beer have a nose like wine? - maybe not.... Anyway - smells delicious). At 8 percent ABV, this one will get me in the Christmas spirit quick.

Ebay Rock 45's

Each Friday, I post a select group of 5 rock 45's that sold on Ebay recently along with the corresponding video - so you can judge for yourself if the buyer got a good deal.

The Nomads Be Nice $1,234.00

From the Auction:

RARE Collectable 45 of the Nomads of Fort Worth , Texas. Record is listed in many of the most wanted garage 45's of all time. Record comes with the rare picture sleeve. Record is virgin vinyl has never been played and is untouched except for cleaning. Picture Sleeve is in very good condition and only shows wear from age and folds from record. Also included are some business cards from the group. Both Wesley
Harris, the songwirter for Be Nice, and Bill Ham , guitarist , remain active in the music scene

Barbara Pitman I Need A Man $545.00

From the Auction:

Hi, this is a US 45 by Barbara Pittman, "I Need A Man" b/w "No Matter Who's To Blame", released on Sun 253. This is an ORIGINAL pressing! Condition is a strong and nice VG+, maybe even a little better. Labels are clean with light ring wear / rubbing. Nice one! Keep your eyes on my auctions -- a large collection of very Memphis-centric records (including a very large amount of SUN records) has just arrived at my doorstep!

Urban Waste Police Brutality $525.51

From the Auction:

Urban Waste
side A - 1) Police Brutality 2) Public Opinion 3) No Hope 4) Wasted Life
side B - 1) Skank 2) Ignorant 3) BNC 4) Reject
Mob-Style Records and Wasteland Productions
Msr2
Contains two inserts.

Pretty Things Oh Baby Doll $400.00

From the Auction:

ARTIST: THE PRETTY THINGS / EXCELSIORS
TITLE: "OH MY BABY DOLL" / "START WITH A SMILE"
LABEL: EMIDISC
CATALOG # :
FORMAT: 7"
YEAR: 1965
VINYL CONDITION: VG++
RECORD COVER:
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: THIS IS A SHARED RECORD WITH PRETTY THINGS ON ONE SIDE & EXCELSIORS ON OTHER SIDE. THIS IS FROM A RECORD COLLECTION OF AN EX-RADIO DJ.

Charlotte Leslie Les Filled C'Est Fait $299.99

From the Auction:

Charlotte Leslie – A1 “Ca m’est egal” / A2 “Je sais ce que je veux” / B1 “Les filles c’est fait” / B2 “La vie d’une fille”, FRA Polydor EP, 1960’s.

Record: EX+ (some very faint superficial blemishes - mainly from storage I believe).

Sleeve: The 2 only defects can be seen on the front. First and “worst”, located close to the right bottom corner (this is as is – nothing repaired). The second is bottom left seam, where a very small amount of purple has been rubbed off.

There is something about French "Ye-Ye girls"/"Swinging Mademoiselles" and this is one of the best around – fuzz, bongos and a storming pace. On several compilations and even more wants-lists.

2009 Chateau De Pitray Premier Vin

Exploring some French wine again tonight - this one is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and is from the Castillon Cotes De Bordeaux appelation - near the city of Bordeaux on the Dordogne river (#22 on the diagram below).

A wonderful smooth wine with classic muted Merlot flavors of berry, plum, currant and raisin - just a bit of the Cabernet Franc's pepper and herbal qualities that I am fond of only in small doses. Subdued and subtle, not like the Californian style of big and bold. This wine is going to go well with the brined chicken roasting in the oven tonight and the roasted potato, mushroom and onion mix roasting along side the chicken - soaking up the juices....

Here's a link to the Chateau's website ----> Chateau De Pitray (hmmm - they have guest rooms - a night at a seventeenth century Chateau? - could be fun...)

Oh yea - $9.99 at my local Costco - a bargain.

Flamin' Groovies Shake Some Action $299.99

From the Auction:

Impossibly rare original Dutch 1976 7" single by US psych / powerpop / proto punk band the Flamin' Groovies. Comes in unique and original picture sleeve !! See scan. WOW !!!

B-side: "I can't hide ". Killer stuff !!!

IMPOSSIBLY RARE uniquely picture sleeved Holland release that features a totally diffferent version of "Shake Some Action" than what was included on the LP of the same name! I don't know if this was issued anywhere else in the world and this is the first time I've ever come across this alternative version. This 7" was released in 1976 at the same time as the "Shake Some Action" album but I guess they used the wrong mastertape for this 7". "I Can't Hide" is the same version as on the LP.

ESSENTIAL ITEM FOR ANY GROOVIES / PUNK / POWERPOP FAN OR COLLECTOR !!!

Label: Philips 6078 505. Condition record/cover: ex/ex- (slight ringwear, some small wrinkles). MONSTER RARITY !!!

Pujol Mission From God $236.68

From the Auction:

PUJOL fans! We found a Test Pressing of the 7” 2010 EP: “Mission From God”, “Deathmask”, and “Point Of View”. But that’s not all! It’s on a sweeeet swirly purple vinyl, we’ve put it in the full color sleeve, and it’s been played once. But that’s not all! It’s PUJOL at his best, and it’s the only one we got!

Dick Dale Jungle Fever $150.50

From the Auction:

Jungle Fever (Upbeat version (with Jungle Noises) of the album tune Surfing Drums)

Shake-n-Stomp (Alt Rockabilly Version. This is not the album Surf version)

Label:
US Deltone Records. Rare promo.

Description:
Wow! Killer 2-sider. Super rare Dick Dale release. Very hard to get. This was issued before Dicks big break with Misirlou and none of these recordings appears on his original albums.

The Street Cleaners That's Cool, That's Trash $133.00

From the Auction:

Label: AMY
Format: 45
Grade: EX (borders NM)
Category: garage/punk
Notes: rare and fantastic 1964 dj copy! flip side instrumental ... plays GREAT! comes in company sleeve
