2012 Wilson Vineyards Muddy Boot Red

Good Afternoon.  It's a cold one out here on the left coast.  Time to head into the Pinhead Studios.  The heater has been on all afternoon and the warm glow of the pinball machines are beckoning me.  Time to finish off the bottle of red I started yesterday afternoon.

This wine is vinified by Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg, California.  They call it the Muddy Boot Red.  It combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc into a wonderful tour of France.

The nose is predominately fruit (blackberry?) with some tannic spice on the tongue.  The finish is smooth and the day of oxygen certainly helped.  Yesterday, the freshly opened wine was tart and lifeless.  I encourage everyone to decant reds or at least give them a few hours to open up before you pour them.  This blend should go nicely with the Turkey soup bubbling away on the stovetop.

Cheers,
Jerry
