Cloudy and heading for rain is the forecast here on the left coast. I've got a nice bottle of Red open for the evening. It's a 2010 14 Hands Winery Hot To Trot Red Blend. Yeah - I know- what a cute name. Well, in spite of the cute name, this well constructed blend of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet checks in at a rather restrained 13.5% alcohol and is smooth as a baby's bottom. Well balanced and rich with a wonderfully red fruit jam character. I should have known it would be a keeper when I read on the Wine Curmudgeon that this is from the Chateau St. Michelle group. A very experienced winery with a deft hand that make some great wines. This one goes for about a tenner - quite a bargain in my view.
Some propaganda from the Winery - 14 Hands Hot To Trot Red Blend
The Wine Curmudgeon article that I mentioned - Wine of the Week
Received a CD in the post this last week - Sawyer's Hope - the latest album from Brighton, England's Mudlow. Put some Howlin' Wolf, Morphine and the Cramps in a pot - stir it up - that's Mudlow. Great stuff - highly recommended!
