Whew - it is a hot one out here on the Left Coast. Time to retreat to the cool darkness of the Pinhead Studios for a cold lager, some pinball and the sweet sound of vinyl. The lager this afternoon is the seasonal offering from the Sierra Nevada brewery, the little microbrewery that could, located a few hours north of here. This one is perfect for a hot day - crisp and dry with the traditional Perle, Saaz and Spalter hops that give it a nice grassiness - sorta like the Sauvignon Blanc that is cooling in the fridge. The second Summerfest will work perfectly as I rotisserie a whole chicken on the grill and then I'll switch to the wine while I carve the bird up. I've got a bowl of those great Trader Joe's blistered peanuts handily next to the grill, so I'm set.

Picked up an interesting double LP on a recent trip to the Aomeba Records outlet in Berkeley. It is called "Hard Goods" and is a Warner Brothers sampler released in 1974.

Yes - that is Kiss and Montrose tossed in among the Foghats and Seeger.
