2010 Stonehedge Amador County Old Vine Zinfandel

Well, if you have read my blog in the past, you know that I love Zinfandel and the Old Vine designation especially.  Amador County produces some great ones, like the Terra D Oro and Bogle's Zins.  This one ranks right up there with them.  14.4% alcohol, which is pretty typical of the region, this one is nice and dark - a ruby red color with a hint of purple.  One word for the the taste - Sublime.  Leather, Earth, Spice and a long smooth finish - I need to go back and buy a case of this one.

I've got some pork ribs on the grill and will be brushing some homemade BBQ sauce on them right before they are finished.  This wine should go perfectly with the ribs and the hearty roasted potato, mushroom and artichoke heart mix roasting away in the oven (prepped by drizzling olive oil on the mix and dusting with paprika, salt, pepper and Trader Joe's great 21 seasoning salute mix)  Oh yeah - the wine was snagged at Trader Joes' too - just a ten spot for the bottle - such a deal!

Cheers and Bon Apettit,
Jerry
